How Bed Bugs Invades Homes

Bed bugs are not a result of poor cleaning of your home or apartment, we’re all susceptible. You can bring bed bugs into home by carrying it in through infested luggage, backpacks, purses, furniture, bedding, shoes and clothing. If you find you have bed bugs and live in a rental property, let the landlord know immediately.

Bed bugs can exist anywhere in your home, but usually are close to where people sleep. You can inspect for bed bugs by inspecting the following:

  • bed and bedding
  • Check around the edge of the mattress and box springs, in seams and under buttons and tags.
  • Inspect the underside of your box springs.
  • Check your headboard, footboard or bed frame
  • Check your baseboard heaters, window sills, curtains, nightstands and dressers.
  • Check the drawers in furniture by removing them.
  • Check upholstered furniture, sofas, and recliners.
  • Inspect curtains or other window coverings.
  • Check under carpet edges where carpets meet walls
  • Look at loose wallpaper, cracks in plaster and walls. Inspect window and door casings, moldings.

Inspection and eradication are very difficult to eliminate from your home. It’s recommended that you hire a professional to get rid of them as well as, remediate them. Pesticides used to kill bed bugs should only be used by licensed pest control operators.
